“It will be easily believed that I am a
fond-parent to every child of my fancy, and that no one can ever love that
family as dearly as I love them. But, like many fond parents, I have in my
heart of hearts a favourite child. And his name is David Copperfield.”
Those where Charles Dickens’ final words
for the prologue to the 1867’s edition of David Copperfield. A hundred and
forty four years have pased, but the novel’s british humor, irony, and realism
remain intact. Through its pages, the author depicts a black and white England.
David Copperfield is a journey through
its main character’s life in a retrospective point of view and through David’s
own narration. The story shows us
childhood’s inocence, adolescence’s madness, maturity’s lucidness, and love’s blindness.
David Copperfield -Charles Dickens-
