When Beekman Place’s doors first open for little Patrick Dennis his life will never be the same. Used to a life with absent parents and to receive no attention at all from his father, when the latter dies Patrick won’t undergo a traumatic episode whatsoever. On the contrary, he’ll soon be immersed in the crazy, shimmering life of his only living relative: Auntie Mame.

Patrick will soon discover a bohemian way of living that will push him through madcap adventures mainly due to his aunt’s whimsical reasoning. After being fired from multiple “careers” she ends up working at Macy’s at the toy department, where she won’t last for much, and will be soon fired for letting a customer help her at the cash register. But Mame’s natural derangement  has something in it that the customer in question will be captivated for, and in short he will become her husband. Beauregarde Pickett Burnside, this southern multimillionaire, will take Mame out of her miserable situation, and return her the glitzy, glamourous life she “deserves.”

Auntie Mame is a silly, easy, and relaxed novel that will surely make you laugh. This book is perfect for having a good time diping in the glossy, american twenties.

Cuando Beekman Place abre sus puertas a Patrick Dennis, su vida nunca volverá a ser la misma. Acostumbrado a una vida sin padres, en la que su padre apenas le presta atención, Patrick, siendo un niño, apenas sufrirá con la muerte de éste. Mame será despedida después de haber permitido que un cliente le ayudase con la caja registradora. Pero el natural caos de Mame cautivará al cliente en cuestión, que en poco tiempo se convertirá en su marido. Beauregarde Picket Burnside, este multimillonario sureño, sacará a Mame de su miserable situación y le devolverá la glamurosa vida que ella “se merece”.

La Tía Mame es una novela graciosa, relajada y entretenida que sin duda te hará reír. Este libro es perfecto para pasar un buen momento sumergiéndote en los lustrosos años veinte.
